25 Years Behind the Lens

Rooted in Calgary. Driven by light, detail, and authentic connection

Hi, I'm Richard.

My obsession with photography didn't start in a classroom—it started 25 years ago in front of a saltwater reef tank. Trying to capture the intricate, fast-moving detail of underwater macro life forced me to master manual camera settings, lighting, and patience from scratch. That single spark ignited a lifelong pursuit of visual storytelling.

Over the last two decades, that pursuit has taken me down every avenue of the craft. I built dedicated studio setups in Calgary to master artificial light and portraiture, working with models and creatives to learn exactly how to direct people so they look and feel natural in front of a camera. At the same time, my love for exploration carried me across the globe, capturing wild landscapes and remote environments where you only get one chance to get the shot.

Today, I bring that entire library of experience back home to Calgary.

Whether we’re shooting golden-hour family portraits in Fish Creek Park, updating your dating profile with approachable, confident shots, or chasing sunset light in Kananaskis, my approach is simple: complete technical precision paired with a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere.

Because after 25 years of shooting in every condition imaginable, nothing on location fazes me—which means you can just relax, be yourself, and enjoy the experience.

No awkward posing or stiff smile prompts. I guide you through natural movement so your photos feel genuine and connected.

Equally comfortable controlling studio strobes or adapting to shifting mountain weather in the Canadian Rockies.

Two decades of technical mastery means lighting, composition, and focus are second nature. You get polished, high-end results every time.
